“Cuddling You To Sleep” was written to connect with the audience of Cardlin Media Productions. This script only has one speaker (Cardlin) and focuses on being neutral enough for the listener to be able to insert themselves into the scenario. When writing the script it was important to remember that and to keep the brand voice the same as the rest of the channel.

Creative Writing for a Brand

[Starts off with sounds of a soft fan and raining pitter-pattering on a window. Sheets start to rustle as the scene starts]

Baby, are you okay? 

… I know you’re awake. I can feel you tossing and turning over there on the other side of the bed. And I can hear you sighing every few minutes. 

Yeah, you had a stressful day? You didn’t talk about it at dinner. Well, you don’t have to talk about everything in your day if you don’t want to. But I love hearing about what you did and how you’re feeling. It’s one of the ways I feel connected to you. 

Please don’t worry that you’re bothering me. I can’t sleep if you can’t sleep. 

Can I hold you? Do you think that might help a bit? 

Yes, please be my little spoon! I love when you’re all tucked up in my arms. You’re so warm, and your hair smells so nice. I love that new shampoo and conditioner you’re using.

Yes, I noticed! The bottles are a different color than the other ones. 

I can be observant sometimes. 

Now come on, scootch a little closer. 

Yes, that’s it, right there. I’m going to wrap my arms around you, and we’re going to close our eyes. 

I love having you tucked up like this as my little spoon. 

When we’re like this, I feel like I can protect you from anything. You always make me feel strong and loved, like I could do anything. I hope I make you feel the same way, my love. 

It’s okay to relax, to let go of your day’s troubles. Just lean on me, and I’ll be here for you. Okay? 

I love you so much. 

[Voice Actor breathes deeply for a little while, slowly in and out. We can still hear the rain on the window and the fan. This is a good place to have a long drawn out silence]

You still feel so tense in my arms, baby. 

Do you mind if I try something that my yoga teacher does at the end of a hard class? 

Yes, I know I’m a nerd. I listen to my yoga teacher. You know it’s been really helpful in keeping my life balanced lately. Especially since you’ve been so busy with work the past few months. 

Hahaha, and it helps me stay flexible for you and all of our activities

Okay, okay, I’ll stop bringing that up. My goal is to get us actually to sleep. It’s so late in the night and sleep is important.

Are your eyes closed? 

Good. 

Keep your eyes closed. Let them rest. They’ve worked so hard today with you staring at a computer screen and your phone. They deserve to rest, just like you deserve to rest. 

[Long resting pause with rain sounds, fan, etc.]

Now, we’re slowly going to start to relax our whole bodies. Starting with the toes. Wiggle them a little, and let them relax. It’s okay just to let go of all of your worries for the night. I’ve got you in my arms. And whatever happens tomorrow we’ll face together, okay? 

Deep breathe in and out. Yeah, just like that baby. Feel the breath in your chest expand from your diaphragm. Take a deep breath through your nose and slowly release it through your mouth.

Every time you breathe in, you are breathing in the good. Every time you breathe out all of the stress and bad thoughts escape. 

Deep breathe in and out, two, three, four. In, two, three, four. Out, two, three, four. It’s okay to let go of the worries of today. Just breathe. Deep breathe in, and release all your stress as your breath leaves your body. All those bad thoughts are escaping. You don’t need them in your head anymore. Just breathe in all of the good.

Imagine the good feelings are a golden light. Inhale that golden light and let it fill you. When you let your breath out imagine your stress as a dark cloud pouring out of your mouth. Your stress could be any color. Mine is red, but yours could be blue or maybe that weird green color we were talking about the other day. Just let it out, and then breathe in that golden light some more. 

Deep breathe in and out, two, three, four. In, two, three, four. Out, two, three, four. In with the good, out with the bad.

Let’s start to relax even more. Let’s say a magic wand is slowly hovering over your toes to your ankles. As it moves up, you start to sink slowly deeper into the bed. Inch by inch it’s helping you release all of the tension that you’re holding in your body. 

Remember you are still deep breathing, baby. In with the good, out with the bad. Match your breath to mine.

[A long moment of deep breathing.]

The Magic wand is at our calves now, and you are sinking deeper and deeper into the bed and into my arms. You are safe here, and you have nothing to worry about. All you have to think about is how sleepy you are getting and how relaxed your leg muscles are starting to feel as the tension is slowly leaving your body. 

[long pause of deep breathing and rain hitting the window]

It’s moved up to our bellies and chests. Every deep breath you take just makes you feel lighter, like all of the air is dispelling all of the stress you’ve been holding inside of you. All the golden light fills up inside of you. There is no room for stress or anxiety. Think about how comfortable the bed is, how the blanket is weighing you down, how my arms feel around you, how nice the pillow is cradling your head. How our heartbeats match each other. 

[Long pause of more deep breathing and rain hitting the window]

Listen to your heartbeat, and listen to mine. We are here together, my love. Let my warmth anchor you into this moment. Let my arms hold you tight. Let me help remove your stress. You don’t need to worry about anything else. All you need to do is keep your eyes closed and keep breathing. There is nothing else to worry about. It’s okay to give your body time to recharge. 

[Another long pause of more deep breathing, rain, and fan sounds.]

The Magic wand is now at your shoulders and all of the muscles that have been aching and holding all the tension no longer ache. The wand has touched the very top of your head, and you feel like jelly. And you’re so deep into the bed that you don’t want to move anymore, that you feel safe and comfortable here in my arms. 

I’m holding you, and nothing can harm you while I’m here. No stress, no worries, no anxiety. It’s just you and me. 

Do you feel any better?

See? You can relax with just a bit of magic. 

Now, let’s make sure our breathing is still matching. Make sure your eyes are still closed. 

Let your heart stay steady. You still feel like jelly. You are still relaxed. 

Every time you breathe in, you are breathing in the good. Every time you breathe out all of the stress and bad thoughts escape. It’s okay to relax. It’s okay to let go of all your troubles from the day. This is your time to reset. And I’m here. Just keep breathing, in and out with me, in and out.

And if you need anything just kiss me awake, okay?

[Long stretch of deep breathing, rain, and sleeping noises until the audio fades off.]
